Objective. Quantitatively evaluate the anti-fingerprinting properties
Our customer, a manufacturer using stainless steel, wants to evaluate in a quantitative and not only qualitative way the visibility of fingerprints on various steels. We use both, treated and untreated steels and would like to have a reliable and accurate method to evaluate incoming steels for anti-fingerprint properties.
Solution. Design the anti-fingerprint properties evaluation test.
The first step was to select the steels with which we were going to perform the evaluation test design. We needed samples with different surface finishes, colors and anti-fingerprint treatments in order to have values across the entire range of anti-fingerprint properties.
We designed the test and methodology we were going to follow to get quantitative values.

In addition to these tests, we needed to compare with the user’s perception values to check that the values actually correspond to what the person perceives. For this we performed a panel test with different users with the different steels and documented all the results.

In this project it was very important to document the tests through images, in addition to the numerical data. In addition to the presentation of the results, we gave a practical training in the laboratory on how to perform each step, so we could solve doubts in a more direct way.
