Objective. Showing the operator the connection steps
Our client, a manufacturer of electronic boards, would like to show its operators the steps to follow during the connection of its electronic boards on the electronic board itself. Currently, operators have to follow a paper guide, which is complicated both ergonomically and in terms of the number of references. Our client also would like that in case the step is not correct, the operator can be warned in real time so that he does not go to the next step. Its 4 objectives are: reduce cycle time, reduce assembly errors, improve the ergonomics of its workers and facilitate the training of new operators in this complex and delicate task.
Solution. A fixed projector communicated to the board’s electronics
The first step consisted of collecting the requirements, spaces, distances, cycle time, models and cases. It was necessary to know the operations and steps of each reference.
Afterwards, we begin with the definition and design of the equipment. We selected the industrial projector that covered the work area of the electronic boards and that can project the necessary information in each case. We also selected the industrial computer that manages the projections and communications with the plant management system. We implemented communications between all the system teams and integrated the system with the elements already existing in the workplace.
We developed an application to generate the projections necessary to guide the process. In this case, the projections indicate the exact position of the connections to be made on the electronic board. The connection verification is carried out electronically and in case of NOK connection, the projection indicates the error. In case the connection is successful, the application automatically projects the next point.
We then installed and integrated the system at the customer’s factory so we could begin the rest of the programming.
The final step consisted of the testing and validation by our client of the references that we had integrated and in the training we gave about the system and the developed algorithm.
