Problem
The current material, in contact with fish blood, becomes dirty irreversibly.
Objective
Study the reason why fouling occurs and propose an improvement to prevent irreversible fouling from occurring.
ATRIA Solution
During the project, several real pieces where fouling had occurred were characterized. From these pieces it was possible to determine that the origin of the failure was in the porosity of the material.
The porosity of the material was then reduced and prototype parts were manufactured.
In the laboratory, standardized fouling and cleaning tests were carried out, which confirmed that the material with less porosity did not present irreversible fouling.
