Characterization of biogas

We use the ASTM D-1945 methodology to characterize biogas samples and know the composition precisely.

Our client produces biogas in one of its factories and needs to know the composition of this biogas before and after desulfurization.

The objective is to take the sample and analyze the composition in a robust and reliable way.

Solución. We use ASTM D-1945 method to characterize

Firstly we define the work methodology. In it, we designed how and with what means the sample collection and conservation would be carried out. This is a critical step to obtain reliable results. In this case we use special chemically inert and waterproof bags.

The next step was the characterization of the samples. We were interested in compounds such as methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), nitrogen (N2), hydrogen (H2), carbon monoxide (CO), ammonia (NH3), oxygen (O2), volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and siloxanes.

We use different methodologies such as the ASTM D-1945 method. We then went on to obtain the biogas constants that our client was interested in, such as the methane number, the density of the real gas, the upper and lower heating value and the Wobbe index.
