Problem

The calibration process of one of the elements used in the manufacture of steel beams is tedious and complex to carry out.

Objective

Improvement of the calibration process of the ingot mold with respect to the containment zone, both elements that are used in the manufacturing process of steel beams.

ATRIA Solution

A portable equipment consisting of a measurement laser with the necessary precision and repeatability is designed. The equipment is placed on top of the ingot mold and the calibration distance is measured using the laser. The distance is displayed on a screen that is used as a user interface. The process is fast and comfortable taking into account the ambient conditions that occur in a steel mill.
